Why bucket hats are worse than caps for big heads
A snapback has an adjustable closure; a bucket hat has none. Whatever circumference it was cut to is what you get, and "one size" bucket hats are cut for the average head, around 22½ inches for men. Some have a small drawcord or a stretchy sweatband, which buys you an inch at most. So for a bucket hat the only thing that matters is whether the brand makes it in your actual size.

Oddjob sizes its buckets like fitted caps: XL for 7½–8¼ and XXL for 8–9¼, and it says XL fits about 80% of its customers.
